Resolving Child Custody and Visitation Matters in Tennessee

When your parenting rights are being scrutinized in court, an experienced lawyer can fight on your behalf and help make sure your interests are heard. I am Stanley A. Kweller, Attorney at Law. I have over 30 years of experience representing clients in child custody and visitation disputes throughout Nashville and Middle Texas. Contact my firm online or call 615-256-2602 to schedule your free initial consultation.

Determining Child Custody and Visitation Arrangements

The court is required to consider a variety of factors in determining custody and parenting plans. Those factors include:

  • Love, affection and emotional ties between the parents and children
  • The parent's ability to provide food, clothing, shelter and basic necessities
  • The amount of time that parents can and do spend with their children
  • The stability of the parents' family unit

Whether you think that you deserve to have full custody of your children because you were their primary caretaker during the marriage, or if you think you deserve more time than your spouse is suggesting, I am prepared to help you reach the goals you believe to be in your childrens' best interest. Whether reaching an agreement with your spouse or going to court, I will do what is necessary to help you reach the goals you have set.

Mother's and Father's Rights After Divorce

For many years, there was a misconception that fathers do not have as many rights as mothers. This is incorrect, as the laws concerning custody rights are written to be gender-neutral.

There are many fathers that exercise more parenting time than the standard parenting time arrangements set forth by the court system. I work closely with my clients to create customized parenting plans that address the needs of both parents.

When Conflict Arises

Often, unconsidered issues arise between parents that may increase cost for caring the child or time spent with one parent. Such issues include:

  • Private schools
  • Sports and other extracurricular activities
  • Long-distance travel time between parents
  • Extraordinary medical or counseling expenses

To resolve disputes involving these and many other issues, the court often looks to see who is more financially stable and who created the need for the additional costs or transportation. If you have any questions regarding the modification of custody or a parenting plan, contact me online or call 615-256-2602 to schedule your free initial consultation. I am experienced in handling all custody matters, including parenting time, father's rights and relocation matters.
