Division of Complex Marital Assets

Dividing Marital Debts and Assets for Tennessee Clients

Dividing assets during a divorce can be complicated when the estate is small and there are few assets. The complexities increase if you and your spouse have large, unusual or complex marital assets. In these situations, it is important to work with an experienced lawyer who can protect your property during the divorce. I am Stanley A. Kweller, Attorney at Law. I represent clients throughout Nashville and Middle Tennessee who are dividing complex marital assets. Contact me online or call 615-208-9691 to schedule your free initial consultation.

Representation for Business Owners and Other Professionals

With over 30 years of experience, I have worked with numerous clients who are business owners, entrepreneurs and investors. During their marriage, many business assets may become entangled with personal assets. The process of divorce must then include the valuation of all assets, including businesses and investments, to determine an equitable distribution to the parties. Two key matters that require experienced legal counsel are:

  • Real property division: Because of the recent real estate market crash, real estate is not as easily sold as it was three or four years ago. I work with clients to help them determine an accurate value of their marital home property and how to move forward with that property post-divorce.
  • Business valuation: When there is a dispute regarding the value of a business, an experienced lawyer can bring in experts, such as business valuators, to help determine the actual worth of the business, even when it is in the process of being sold. I work with clients to anticipate the impact the divorce will have on their business and finances.

I also assist clients with the division of liabilities and debts. The current economy has made this task as important as the division of assets. I work closely with my clients to gain a good understanding of who created the debt, how the debt was created and why it was created. The answers to these questions then helps determine next steps and proper distribution of those debts.
