Actress Lena Headey reportedly in custody dispute

Tennessee fans of "Game of Thrones" star Lena Headey might be interested to learn that she is in a custody dispute with her ex-husband. Headey has a 6-year-old son with her former husband, Peter Loughran, to whom she was married from 2007 to 2011. Loughran is supposed to get 10 visitation days per month.

However, Headey moved their son to England. Reportedly, she did so because she felt the school system was superior to the one in Los Angeles. Headey also says she had her husband's permission to do so.

At least one source says that on Oct. 27, a court ruled that she had violated the custody agreement with Loughran. However, another says that the court did not make a judgment. According to reports, Headey was supposed to bring the child back to Los Angeles on Sept. 5. Sources say her son will be permitted to remain with her until she finishes filming the season of "Game of Thrones," but she will have to pay Loughran's travel expenses in the meantime.

Child custody can be one of the most difficult aspects of a divorce to negotiate. Both parents usually want what is best for the child, but they may also struggle with the idea of giving up time with the child. Furthermore, there can be a conflict if one parent has to move or travel to a different area for work as was the case with Headey. A parent who needs to move may need to go through the court system in order to get approval, and thus having the assistance of a family law attorney could be advisable.
