Sarah Palin's son faces custody battle

Tennessee residents may know that Sarah Palin is in contention for a spot in Donald Trump's administration. They may have also heard that her son Track was recently in court facing a custody dispute with the mother of his youngest child. In January 2016, he was charged with assaulting the mother, possessing a firearm while intoxicated and interfering with the report of a domestic violence crime. These charges could have a negative impact on the outcome of his case.

The attack on the baby's mother reportedly took place at Sarah Palin's home, and Track Palin reportedly took a plea deal in that case. A police report stated that Track Palin had a blood alcohol content of .189 percent at the time of the incident. Sarah Palin claimed that her son suffered from PTSD as a result of his time in Iraq. However, he did not see any combat while stationed there.

If an individual is experiencing child custody issues of any kind, they might want to speak with an attorney. Legal counsel may be able to help that person either regain parental rights or obtain joint or sole custody of their child. Depending on the circumstances in a given case, an attorney may help a parent seek child support to help defray the cost of being a primary caregiver.

A lawyer may be able to point to prior acts of domestic abuse by the other parent as a means of establishing that an individual should have sole custody. In most cases, however, judges will try to ensure that both parents maintain contact with the children.
